Things to Know about Shanghai
Foreign Exchange
The official currency of China is the Renminbi Yuan (RMB).
Foreign currency exchange services are available at airports and hotels.
As of first quarter of 2004 the exchange rate between US dollar and RMB was
US$1 = RMB 7.45.
Excursions/Field Study Tours
Field study tours will be organized and sponsored by the host
organization, including to attend the Closing Ceremony of 2007 Special
Olympic World Summer Games in the afternoon of 11th October 2007 and visits
to community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities-
Sunshine Homes and other facilities. Please refer to the Tentative Program
of the Workshop and the detailed schedule and destination of the filed study
tours will be informed at the beginning of the event, and will be made
available at the above-mentioned web site, in due course.
Weather
The weather in Shanghai in late October is clear and warm normally. The
average temperature is 25c to 30c. Generally speaking, rain is not expected
at that time of the year in Shanghai. The meeting rooms are air-controlled.
Electricity
Electricity supply in China is 220 volts at 60 Hz. Participants are
advised to check the voltage before using appliances. It is recommended that
participants bring converters or adapters.

Shanghai uses standard Beijing time which is 8 hours ahead of GMT.

Meals will be served at the Hotel just next to the Venue of the Workshop.
Restaurant information is available at hotel front desks. Please indicate in
your communications as early as possible for your special requirements for
