Preparing to work together

The chat feature allows an interactive text-based exchange among participants. This discussion is scheduled and moderated. For those who are not able to join, chat logs will be provided.

The chat feature uses IRC software for the Internet. This software for IRC is widely available. Here are two possible products:

For PC users with Windows 95 and 98, it is easiest to use Microsoft Chat.
Follow these instructions to install and use Microsoft Chat.
For PC and Macintosh users, try using mIRC.
Follow these instructions to install and use mIRC.

Microsoft Chat and mIRC are recommended because they are small programs and they have been tested for accessibility.
