Rule 5: Reality
Physical environment: are there accessibility rules in design and construction?
Physical environment: is there enough information about the rules?
Information and communication: is all government information accessible to all?
Communication media: are the new information systems accessible?
Participation: are organizations of persons with disabilities involved in setting rules?
Notes:
Now it is time for another reality check, about the whole area of accessibility. You should take a few minutes and look at what the Rules call for and ask yourself, “what are the main needs with regards to livelihoods and to what extent do the Rules cover them?” Keep track of what you conclude, because this will set out a large part of the list of things that have to be addressed by your recommendations later.
