Internet Accessibility -
An ASEAN Perspective
12-16 July 1999
Bangkok, Thailand

Expected Results

The Seminar will review and assess Internet accessibility issues of concern to ASEAN member States, identify key issues and recommend priorities for action to further Internet accessibility for all.

Seminar participants will identify and examine options and formulate a framework of a strategic plan for Internet accessibility by, for and with persons with disabilities among ASEAN member States.

Interested ASEAN member States may join - or establish as appropriate - networks to promote increased sharing of knowledge and experience on Internet accessibility and further thereby localisation of planning and development of information and telecommunications knowledge and skills in the region.

Seminar participants will benefit directly from the seminar in terms of (1) new knowledge acquired on Internet accessibility policies, strategies and issues, (2) new skills gained to plan and evaluate Internet accessibility and persons with disabilities and (3) increased awareness and understanding of the social and economic benefits of planning and developing information structures and services that are accessible for all.
