The Seminar on Internet Accessibility and Persons with Disabilities is in three parts:

  1. Introduction to the Internet. Issues in international and regional information policies, structures and technologies that are the basis for the development and management of the Internet World Wide Web: ownership and administration of the Internet; norms and standards for Internet protocols, naming and addressing systems; Internet culture and netiquette; the new information economy; accessibility issues, assistive devices, legacy technologies and service-side solutions.
  2. Overview of Internet services and Web-based applications. Issues and trends in electronic mail, file sharing, and the emergence of Web-based applications for individuals and work groups - such as schedules and contact lists, knowledge management, and distance collaboration - for electronic commerce, and for planning and managing public services; current situation, emerging issues and trends among ASEAN member States; accessibility compliance.
  3. Issues in design, planning and development of an accessible Internet presence. Review and discussion of strategic planning approaches to Internet accessibility for all among the ASEAN member States. Meeting participants will identify leading issues, priority actions to further localisation of relevant skills and technologies, and formulate an outline for a "Strategic planning framework for Internet Accessibility for all - an ASEAN perspective".
