Narrated: How do we combat bad email practices? There are technical solutions, such as firewalls, that prevent downloading of large files. Though it may not easily be regulated, lobbying groups are pushing for harsh penalties for purveyors of unsolicited email. Finally, we all have the ability to help, by following email etiquette: keep that message short and to the point; and if you have to send something, ask the recipients permission, and compress the attachments. Better still, if you can post the attachments in a web site, direct the recipient to its web address.
