Goals

Need for statistics that cross-classify aspects of disability and employment situation

Task for the Bureau of Statistics
Establishing guidelines to assist countries in developing or improving their statistics
on the employment situation of persons with disabilities.
Statistics should be feasible (costs), have a large coverage of variables (employment,
disabilities etc.) and report within appropriate periods.
Phase one:
Analysis of the methodologies currently used by countries to compile these statistics.

Current status
- Questionnaires were sent to 219 countries and regions in March (English), May (French)
and July (Spanish)
- More than 100 answers have been received
- Requests for clarification/additional information
- Data input into database to generate quantitative analysis and country sheets for
compendium
- Draft descriptions of methods used will be submitted to countries for verification and
approval in October
