Resources on Children with Disabilities

Introduction

General Assembly resolution 54/121,"Implementation of the World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons: towards a society for all in the twenty-first century," urges in its paragraph 11 that Governments in collaboration with the United Nations system, to give special attention to the rights of children with disabilities and their families, as well as their wellbeing, in the elaboration of policies and programmes.

This set of resources on "Children with disabilities" has been compiled by the United Nations Programme on Disability, Division for Social Policy and Development (Department of Economic and Social Affairs) in response to the request of member States. This resource list contains an extensive set of references of material in Spanish in support of the initiative of the Government of Panama in organizing the "Seminar on Children with Disabilities: Issues and trends in the develop policies and programmes in the region of the Americas" (Panama, 16-20 October 2000).

Part I and II of the resource list is based upon data and information sources that are considered to be reliable, but which have not been formally edited. The views expressed and presentation of information therein may not therefore reflect those of the United Nations Secretariat.
