Internet accessibility for all in the CEE

Some comments about Internet Accessibility in Slovak Republic

1. Access to the internet is rapidly raising in these days in Slovakia. Many Internet caffe were established. The main interest comes from Universities environment and from companies. Public sector also increases its interest. The situation is described in report on following web page: Results in tables (follow: Research/Prieskumy/Prieskum o informacnej spolocnosti/Vysledky/Niektore z vysledkov prieskumu)

2. The accessibility for people with disabilities is on the insufficient level, even the pages made for users with diusabilities are unaccessible!

3. Our plans: To develop accessible www page for the Access Centre at the Technical university of Kosice

  • To include in this page basic rules for creating of accessible web pages, which we have learned at the training
  • To include web sources about standards for accessibility for persons with disabilities
  • To ask the Information committee at the Technical University to apply the rules for accessibility for all web environment at our University
  • To validate accessibility of web pages of institutions for persons with disabilities as a part of our Access Centre cooperation with them
  • To prepare materials about eAccessibility for main institutions for persons with disabilities to present their needs to government
  • To widespread accessibility rules using our presentations at all conferences and seminars (Humanotech, Slovreha...) dealing with problematics of persons with disabilities.
  • To cooperate on international level with groups developing eAccessibility
