Welcome to Sanya City

The Remotest Cape of the Earth

Sanya is a famous coastal tourist city situated in the southernmost part of Hainan Island, China - and so she is called "The remotest cape of the Earth". It is filled with tropical scenery and local culture. Sanya is an important political, economic, and cultural trade port. So, it is fitting that Sanya hosts the UN ESCAP/CDPF Regional Workshop on Promotion of Barrier-free Tourism.

Immigration requirements

Participants will receive an official invitation letter issued by the Chinese host and should contact the Chinese diplomatic or consular missions in their respective countries to obtain an entry visa before departing for China.

Arrival at the airport

Guides/assistants will meet participants at the arrival lobby of the International Sanya Phoenix Airport to assist and guide participants to the transport services provided by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation to the hotel, on condition that participants provide their flight arrival information in advance. Accessible buses will be available for wheelchair users. You are requested to inform CDPF in advance the type of their wheelchairs, i.e., manual or motorized wheelchair.

Hotel Accommodation and Reservation

A sufficient number of rooms have been reserved for the participants at Tianfuyuan Resort. There are a limited number of accessible rooms available.

For UN ESCAP funded participants, a round trip economy class ticket (from your city to the destination) will be issued via UNDP office in your country and they will contact you prior to the Workshop, and CDFP will provide the full board accommodation plus reduced per diem for the entire duration, upon your arrival in China, in accordance with the UN regulation. For CDPF funded participant, CDPF will issue and send a round trip economy class ticket prior to the workshop, and CDPF will provide the full board accommodation plus reduced per diem for the entire duration, upon your arrival in Sanya, Hainan, China.

The self-financing participants are required to contact CDPF and wire deposit directly CDPF upon acceptance of their participation by UN ESCAP and CDPF and a copy of the deposit should be faxed or e-mailed to CDPF. The selection will be made on a first-come-first-served basis, considering the qualifications. Cancellations, postponements or changes of arrival plans should be communicated directly to the Hotel and ESCAP secretariat and China Disabled Persons’ Federation (CDPF). Return bookings

Participants are advised to ensure that their return bookings are confirmed soon after their arrival in Sanya. Confirmation of and changes in airline reservations, etc. may be done at the travel desk in the hotels.
