Foreign Exchange

The official currency of China is the Renminbi (RMB).

Foreign currency exchange services are available at airports and hotels. As of third quarter of 2006 the exchange rate between US dollar and RMB was US$1 = RMB 7,9. Credit cards, such as Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express, are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, restaurants and other places of entertainment.

Excursions

The first segment of this event, field study tours will be organized and sponsored by the host organization for 30 October 2006. The detailed schedule and destination of the filed study tours will be informed at the beginning of the event, and will be made available at the above-mentioned web site, in due course.

Weather

The weather in Sanya is usually clear. The average temperature is 25°C all year. Light clothing may be appropriate. Generally speaking, rain is not expected at this time of the year in Sanya City. The meeting rooms are air-controlled.

Electricity

Electricity supply in China is 220 volts at 60 Hz. Participants are advised to check the voltage before using appliances. It is recommended that participants bring converters or adapters.

Time

Beijing standard time (which is also the time in Chengdu) is 8 hours ahead of GMT.
