DATE AND VENUE

Opening session

The Workshop will be opened at 0900 hours on Monday 25 October 2004. Please refer to the detailed provisional agenda and programme or work on specific information on subsequent sessions.

Meeting Schedule

Subject to confirmation, the daily schedule will be as follows:

Morning session - 0900 to 1200 hours
Afternoon session - 1330 to 1800 hours

Registration and identification badges

Participants are requested to register and obtain Workshop badges in advance of the start of the field trip. Registration will be opened from 1200 to 2000 hours on Sunday 24 October 2004 near the front counter at the lobby of the Hotel, and from 0800 to 0845 on Monday 25 October 2004. Participants who are not able to register at the specified time are requested to do so on subsequent days at the venue (maybe during the field trip), to ensure that their names appear on the list of participants. Without registration, names of participants will not be included in the list.

For identification and security, participants are requested to wear their badges at all times during the Workshop/the field study trips and at social functions.

Working language of the meeting

Working language of the workshop is English and Chinese. There will be simultaneous interpretation in English and Chinese at plenary sessions (the 3 days of the workshop segment of this event). There will be no simultaneous interpretation facilities for working group sessions, the field study tours and the closing.

Workshop Documents

Participants in the workshop segment (27-29 October 2004) are requested to bring a complete set of the documents (available from www.worldenable.net/cdpf2004/materials.htm) by downloading and printing, prior to the Workshop, as only limited copies of such documents will be available at the workshop venue.

Participants wishing to circulate any documents at the Workshop are requested to consult Ms Kay Nagata, Social Affairs Officer, Population and Social Integration Section (e-mail: nagata @ un.org) and are requested to bring a sufficient number of copies for distribution at the Workshop. There will be no photocopy service available for this request. The Workshop Secretariat cannot undertake to reproduce documents or statements submitted by individual participants. Participants are advised to consult Ms Kay Nagata on any matter pertaining to the issuance or distribution of documents at the Workshop.

Financial and administrative arrangements

UN ESCAP will cover the cost of travel and stay of UN ESCAP sponsored participant at United Nations established rates. Kindly note that UN ESCAP will not assume responsibility for the following, under any circumstances:

  • All expenses in the home country incidental to travel abroad, including expenditure for visa, medical examination, inoculations and other such miscellaneous items and internal travel to and from the airport of arrival and departure in the home country;
  • Salary and related allowances for the participants during the period of the Meeting;
  • Costs incurred by participants in respect of travel insurance, accident insurance, medical or dental bills or hospitalisation fees in connection with their attending the Meeting;
  • Compensation in the event of death or disability of participants in connection with their attending the Meeting;
  • Any loss or damage to personal property of participants while attending the Meeting or losses or damages claimed by third parties as a result of negligence on the part of the participants;
  • Any other expenses of a personal nature, not directly related to the purpose of the Meeting.
  • Eligible participants whose attendance are sponsored by UNESCAP will be provided with a daily subsistence allowance during the 2nd day of the Meeting at prevailing United Nations rates in local currency.
