- Responses to the 2004 questionnaire on the BMF implementation
- Country reports and inputs at our meetings from 2003 to 2006.

Policy formulation in progress
- 14 countries (out of 28) have comprehensive law on disability.
- 12 countries have a national action plan on disability.
- Eight countries developing a plan.
- Five countries and an areas reported on the existence of the
anti-discrimination law on disability

National efforts
- 28 countries (out of 28) have a national coordination mechanism or
disability focal point.
- Fifteen countries reported on the existence of quota scheme on the
employment of disabled persons.
- Eighteen countries and an area have national accessibility standards.
- Sixteen countries have standardized sign language.

Findings- issues on definition on disability
- Traditional medical approach definitions

Findings-definition
- Four predominant categories of impairments
- Physical, visual, hearing, intellectual
- Psycho-social, invisible disability, multiple disabilities,
developmental disabilities are extra.

Lack of data on socio-economic indicators
- Nine countries (out of 28) and an areas provided the data on
employment ---26.4 percent to 89.4 per cent
- Seven countries provided the data on access to education –two percent
to 83.6 per cent

Findings
- These findings corroborate the previous reporting
- need to monitor policy implementation, systematic data collection,
wider definition on disability
- Other findings from the previous reporting
- policy formulation on the BMF seven priority areas support for the
international convention process
