Opening session

The Workshop will be inaugurated at 0800 hours on 14 October 2004, in the Conference Room 4, United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC). Please refer to the detailed provisional agenda and programme or work on specific information on subsequent sessions.

Registration and identification badges

Those who participate only in this Workshop are requested to register and obtain meeting badges during the Workshop coffee break. Those who participate in this Workshop and UNESCAP/APDF Workshop on Regional Follow-up to the Third and Fourth Sessions of the Ad Hoc Committee on a Comprehensive and Integral International Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities, (to be held from 11 to 12 October 2004), can register on 11 October 2004 between 0800 and 0845 hours at Registration Counter, located on the ground floor, UNCC.

For identification and security reasons, all participants are requested to wear the meeting badges at all times during the meeting, at social functions and in the United Nations Complex.

Working language of the meeting

The Meeting will be conducted in English and all documentation will be in English. No interpretation will be available.

Documentation

Participants are requested to bring a complete set of the documents uploaded to the home page address, http://www.worldenable.net/bmf2004/materials.htm by downloading and printing, prior to the Workshop, as only limited copies of such documents will be available at the meeting venue. For blind participants, html formatted working documents in a floppy disc will be distributed at the beginning of the Workshop.

Financial and administrative arrangements

Participants who are fully sponsored by UNESCAP will be provided with a round trip, economy class ticket, by the most direct route between your city of work and Bangkok, and per diem at the prevailing United Nations rate. The per diem will be provided during the second day of the Workshop in local currency, and is intended to cover expenses during the stay in Bangkok, including hotel bills, dinners and other miscellaneous expenses such as exit taxes. Kindly note that UNESCAP will not assume responsibility for the following, under any circumstances:

  1. All expenses in the home country incidental to travel abroad, including expenditure for visa, medical examination, inoculations and other such miscellaneous items and internal travel to and from the airport of arrival and departure in the home country;
  2. Salary and related allowances for the participants during the period of the Workshop;
  3. Costs incurred by participants in respect of travel insurance, accident insurance, medical or dental bills or hospitalization fees in connection with their attending the Workshop;
  4. Compensation in the event of death or disability of participants in connection with their attending the Workshop;
  5. Any loss or damage to personal property of participants while attending the Workshop or losses or damages claimed by third parties as a result of negligence on the part of the participants;
  6. Any other expenses of a personal nature, not directly related to the purpose of the Workshop.
